Privileges of the Kaaba

JAKARTA - Going to the Holy Land, whether Makkah or Medina, is a Muslim dream. In addition to performing worship there, pilgrims can make pilgrimages to places contained in the Holy Quran.

The one that has the greatest magnitude is the Kaaba. For Muslims, the Kaaba is not just a cube building covered in black "kiswah" with woven golden Quranic verses.

As quoted from the book 'Haji and Umrah Mabrur Is Easy and Beautiful' by Dr Muhammad Syafii Antonio, M.Ec, the Kaaba is a tall historic building and has a deep spiritual meaning

It's so special, which is a privilege, among other things.

1. As the world's first place of worship

Allah affirms in the Qur'an, which means "Verily the house that was first built for (the place of worship) of mankind is the Baitullah in Bakkah (Makkah) which is blessed and guided for all mankind." (QS. Ali Imran [3]: 96).

 2. As the center of first worship and world affairs for man.

In the Qur'an it is explained which means:

"Allah has made the Kaaba, the holy house as the center (of worship and affairs of the world) for manusi, and (similarly) the Haram month, its hadith, qalaid (Allah made that) so that you know that Allah knows what is in the hui what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and that Allah is All-Knowing of all things." Al-Maidah [5]: 97)

Formerly the Kaaba was famous by the name Baitulal-Uqaishir, Bait Dzial-Khulshah, Bait Aradha, Bait Najran (Ahmad Ibrahim Sharif, Makkah waal-Madinahfial-Jahiliyah). They consider that this house is a holy place for the inhabitants of Sham and Yemen, as well as other kabilah. The Kaaba is also a sacred place for the storage of their worship statues. When they perform hajj in the Kaaba, they will cut their hair there. When Fathu Makkah (conquest of makkah) the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered to destroy all idols in the Kaaba.

3. Have noble names as mentioned in the Qur'an.

Kaaba has other names that glorify it, such as: Al-Bait (House), Baitullah (House of Allah SWT), Al-Baital-Haram (Holy House), Al-Baital-'Atiq (Library House), and Qibla.
